Artist Bio

Born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq, Muhib Sahion (He/Him) is a mixed-media artist based in Toronto, Ontario. He recently earned his BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University, and makes work that explores themes of memory, identity, diaspora and suppressed trauma. Inspired by his heritage, language, and life experiences, he creates abstract/figure paintings and installations that celebrate his culture and identity. Influenced by his experiences of the war at a young age, his goal is to utilize his artistic expression as a means to document the profound impact of war on his own life and that of countless others. Moreover, he aims to cultivate a platform for reflection, healing, and inspiration, encouraging individuals to discover their own narratives and identities through the transformative power of art.
